I made it (Part 1)!

I made it to Lima! After a short and fitful sleep, I headed to the airport at 3:00 am on February 11th. Even though I wouldn't arrive to Lima until 9:30 pm, I was looking forward to binge-watching some movies. Turns out, American Airlines' solution for movies is to have you download their app (which I hadn't) to your phone (which was almost dead) and then watch the movie using your own headphones (which I didn't bring) using their free wifi (which didn't work). Cool American Airlines. On the plus side, I took 3 naps and started 2 books. By the time I made it to my hotel, called my people and did a little unpacking, I collapsed into my bed at midnight.  Thankfully, the next day I was greeted with an amazing hotel breakfast with unlimited fresh fruit and coffee!

During my few days in Lima, we had many briefings and met the ambassador to Peru (who knows my neighbor!),  the Fulbright commission (who graciously helped us set up Peruvian phones and bank accounts), and the vice minister of education (who gave me a cute Vicuña statue). To wrap up our orientation, we had a lovely happy hour at the home of our Regional English Language Officer and got to enjoy some lovely company and a gorgeous sunset.
